Newcastle Theatre
The Newcastle Theatre Royal is one of only seven Grade 1 listed theaters in the UK which has recently been restored to the original 1901 Frank Matcham interior under the scrutiny of English Heritage.
TheatreSearch, the Consultants over-seeing the project, recommended that the rich burgundy, embossed decorative wall tiles and moulded fittings were reinstated, as depicted on original archive drawings.
We manufactured new tiles from our standard range of plain and decorative wall tiles in styles and designs found at other theaters designed by Matcham, such as The Theatre Royal & Opera House in Wakefield and The Gaiety Theatre & Opera House in the Isle of Man.
