Newcastle Theatre
The Newcastle Theatre Royal is one of only seven Grade 1 listed theatres in the UK which has recently been restored to the original 1901 Frank Matcham interior under the scrutiny of English Heritage.
TheatreSearch, the Consultants over-seeing the project, recommended that unglazed geometric and decorative encaustic floor tiles were reinstated, as depicted on original archive drawings.
We manufactured new tiles from our standard range of geometric and encaustic floor tiles in styles and designs found at other theatres designed by Matcham, such as The Theatre Royal & Opera House in Wakefield and The Gaiety Theatre & Opera House in the Isle of Man.
